Sharing recordings

Updated 2026-09-19

Choose which recordings to share and review their permissions before submitting.

Operated by Suncost LLC, Wyoming, United States.

Preparing a recording

Submit recordings you own or have permission to share. Provide accurate species, date, location and recordist details, and explain uncertainty or material edits. Listen for private conversations before uploading.

Identification and review

Choosing Identify uploads selected excerpts for analysis. Choosing Submit sends selected clips and their metadata for review. Identification confidence does not confirm a species, and submission does not guarantee acceptance or publication.

Permissions and credit

Review the usage permission selected in the editor before submitting. You retain ownership of your recording. Accepted recordings may appear in the learning library with credit and metadata under the selected permissions. Recordings and photographs can have different licenses; follow the credit and license shown with each item.

Location and removal

Omit or clear coordinates and location details you do not want to share. See the Privacy policy for account and upload deletion. Removing material from BirdBrain cannot recall copies already obtained under a Creative Commons license.
